The voices in your head, especially the self-defeating ones, are the greatest salespeople because they have this extraordinary ability to persuade you, convince you and sell you on everything they say as being absolute truth.

These voices are so entertaining and seductive that you'll have spent hours, days, weeks, years seeing and perceiving yourself and the world around you through their very LIMITED perspective.

By committing to a quiet practice, there’s a moment…many moments actually…when you’re finally able to take a step back from these diminishing voices so you can begin to be open and curious about the validity of what they’re saying.

Just as you would when you engage with people in your life.

You slip behind, in between and underneath these voices, thoughts and images.

They're still there. In fact, they'll always be there (more on that in another blog).

But you're in a different place within you to be able to hear, see and feel them without being overpowered by them.

When that happens, you’ve crossed the threshold to a place where your experience of YOU will change.

It’s a powerful moment…everything gets quiet inside.

At first it’s a bit unnerving because it’s so unfamiliar.

You're not yet sure you can trust the quiet.

You don’t recognize yourself.

It’s kinda scary.

You’ll want to go back to what you know as you…the you that lives in the middle of your inner noise as truth.

And you may actually do that.

And that’s okay.

But the memory of this new place within you will stay with you in the background.

It will lovingly nudge you again and again to return to your quiet practice.

As the practice becomes a way of life, you eventually realize that these voices don’t define you.

Deep down you find the confidence to stand up to these voices.

You don’t have to believe everything they say.

Like I said, you don’t have to believe everything you think.

It'll feel like nothing is happening when you cross over…

yet you’re also overcome by this feeling that…

…you’re home.
